1. Information We Collect
UV Tracker collects two categories of information. First, precise location data: when you grant location permission, your device's coordinates are used solely to retrieve the current UV index from a third-party weather service. This data is transmitted to the weather API in real time and is never stored by us. Second, personal preferences: your skin type selection and SPF value are stored exclusively on your device using Apple's native storage (UserDefaults). These preferences never leave your device and are not accessible to us.
2. How We Use Your Information
Your location is used for one purpose only: to query a third-party UV index data provider and return the current UV index for your area. Your skin type and SPF value are used entirely on-device to calculate personalized sun protection recommendations. We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, analytics, or any purpose other than providing the core functionality of the app.
3. Third-Party Services
UV Tracker uses a third-party weather or UV index service to retrieve UV data. Your location coordinates are sent to this service to fulfill your request. This service operates under its own privacy policy, which we encourage you to review. All in-app purchases are processed exclusively by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive, store, or have access to any payment information. Apple's privacy policy governs payment data.
4. Data Storage & Retention
We do not operate servers and do not store any personal data on our end. Your location data is never persisted — it is used momentarily to fetch UV index data and then discarded. Your on-device preferences (skin type, SPF) are stored locally on your device. Deleting the app permanently removes all locally stored data. You can also reset your preferences at any time within the app settings.
5. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal, operational, or regulatory reasons. When we make changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Your continued use of UV Tracker after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
